SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
At Amakoro Songa Lodge at least 80% of the overall staff population is hired from the surrounding community in departments such as House keeping, kitchen, security, garden custodians etc. This has promoted job creation in the area around the property and thus promoting social development.

As a ripple affect, the Youth Association was formed, compromising of teenagers and young adults who are mostly children from the women’s association.

The Amakoro Women’s Association was created to support women plus their families of the surrounding community. Each woman in the association received a sheep and health insurance for their families. They are also encouraged to participate in basket weaving activities, so that their crafts can be sold for a profit.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
At Amakoro Songa Lodge, our guests are encouraged to plant and name a tree before they depart the lodge as a final activity. These efforts have promoted environmental conservation initiatives around the property, and as a result we have seen over 2600 trees being planted since the lodge’s inception in 2016.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
In order to have a constant and reliable supply of leafy foods and plating garnishes, the Amakoro Kitchen department is heavily involved in the growing and cultivating of these gardens. Having these vegetable gardens, allows the kitchen staff to cook up a soup or salad with fresh produce from the garden.
