TOUR CONSULTANT

Job brief

Songa Africa is a luxury tour company based in Rwanda is looking for a dynamic Young person to join their excellent team of Tour Consultant .In order to consider applying apart from your academic qualification you must be a person who has enthusiasm for travel and meeting people. You will be responsible for promoting , designing and booking travel arrangements for clients (individuals or businesses) within the East Africa region. The goal is to put together a team that will deliver or exceed on the promise we make to our clientele by enhancing satisfaction and ultimately acquire an expanding and dedicated clientele. 

Responsibilities

  • Research various destinations and means of travel regarding prices, customs, weather conditions, reviews etc. 
  • Diagnose the clients’ specifications , wishes and suggest suitable tour packages or services 
  • Organize tours from beginning to end, through booking tickets and accommodation, securing rental transportation etc. 
  • Supply travelers with pertinent information and useful travel/holiday material (guides, maps, event programs etc) 
  • Be willing to travel with the clients and maintain a professional relationship from the start to the end of the tour 
  • Collect deposits and balances 
  • Use promotional techniques and prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary tour packages 
  • Handle unforeseen problems and complaints and determine eligibility for money returns ( 
  • Attend and represent Songa Africa in meetings and conferences to maintain familiarity with tourism trends 
  • Create and update electronic records of clients 
  • Maintain relationships with key persons and our database of suppliers 
  • Keep financial statements and documents 
  • Reach the revenue and profit targets set by the company 

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years work experience 
  • Proven working experience as a travel consultant and in the tourism industry 
  • Proficiency in English, French and kinyarwanda; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
  • Exemplary sales skills and customer oriented approach
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Well versed in various areas of travel (domestic/international, business/holidays, group/individual etc) 
  • Ability to present, persuade and communicate effectively
  • Demonstrable ability to handle crises
  • Degree in Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, marketing Communication Business or relevant field
  • Candidates with personal travel experience preferred
